Q. How can I join Northeast Alabama Association of REALTORS® as an affiliate member?
A. First, you must submit your application(s) to our office for approval along with a copy of your government-issued ID and professional license (if applicable). Primary membership requires a payment of local + state association dues. You also have the option of joining the National Association of REALTORS®, for an additional fee which would include additional benefits (discounts on services, additional options for health insurance plans and the option to receive REALTOR® status to name a few).
Q. By joining the association, does that make me a REALTOR®?
A. No. However, if you were to complete and maintain your Code of Ethics training in addition to obtaining membership, you could be a REALTOR®. Contrary to common beliefs, you do not need to be a licensed real estate agent to be a REALTOR®.
Q. What is a REALTOR®?
A. The term REALTOR® is a legally registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics. Your membership is three-fold: When you join Northeast Alabama Association of REALTORS®, you also gain membership in the Alabama Association of REALTORS® (“AAR”) and the National Association of REALTORS® (“NAR”).
Q. What is the REALTOR® Code of Ethics?
A. NAR’s Code of Ethics, adopted in 1913, was one of the first codifications of ethical duties adopted by any business group. The Code ensures that consumers are served by requiring REALTORS® to cooperate with each other in furthering clients’ best interests. All REALTOR® members are required to complete Code of Ethics training every 3 years.
Q. What is included in my membership?
A. Benefits include invitations to networking events, sponsorship opportunities and advertising on Northeast Alabama Association of REALTORS® website, access to the members-only Facebook group and many more. For an extensive list of benefits, you may contact the association office directly.
Q. As an affiliate, will I get access to Valley MLS?
A. Appraisers may have access to Valley MLS upon completion of their Valley MLS application and receipt of Valley MLS dues. Northeast Alabama Association of REALTORS® does not have authority to process Valley MLS payments or applications.
Q. As an affiliate, will I get access to Supra keyboxes?
A. Appraisers, inspectors and pest control companies have the option of obtaining Supra eKeys as a member of Northeast Alabama Association of REALTORS®. This option is subject to Supra application approval and is at the discretion of Northeast Alabama Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors.
Q. What are the annual membership fees?
A. Membership fees are paid on an annual basis and are due each year on January 31, and Supra dues are billed annually every July 1. For new members joining Northeast Alabama Association of REALTORS®, dues will be pro-rated based on the month you join.
Q. Can I pay my dues online?
A. Yes. You can pay online here. The option to pay dues is at the top right corner of NAR’s website.

Q. Where can I find information about membership meetings?
A. You can view all upcoming events on Northeast Alabama Association of REALTORS® Calendar of Events or contact the association directly.
Q. What does primary membership mean?
A. Primary membership is an accounting term indicating that you are paying your National and State dues through that particular REALTOR® association.
